Ferguson begged on the phone to sign Cristiano
In 2003, Cristiano Ronaldo signed a contract with Manchester United, where the career of the current international star began. The then unknown Portuguese came specifically as a result of a request from former coach Sir Alex Ferguson.

The initial plan was completely different. The 18-year-old was supposed to continue playing for Sporting Lisbon after signing the contract. However, during a test match against Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo made a great impression on coach Ferguson, in particular, who promptly changed his mind. The new plan was: to bring Cristiano immediately!

By the 45th minute, this was already clear to Ferguson: Cristiano Ronaldo should come soon. At halftime, the then-manager received a call and was informed of the new plans. The next day, the Manchester United team finally departed, with the coach taking Cristiano back to England.

Manchester United originally wanted to bring Ronaldinho to the Premier League in 2003, but in the end, for financial reasons, they changed their minds. Instead, they invested 19 million Euros in Cristiano Ronaldo, who became an exceptional player and a mega star with the Red Devils.

For Manchester United, he played a total of 292 matches and scored 118 goals. He won the Premier League three times and the Champions League in 2008, beating Chelsea on penalties in the all-English final in Moscow. After regular time and extra time, the score was 1-1, and Cristiano Ronaldo was named Man of the Match by fan votes. Ronaldo scored in the 26th minute for the Red Devils, opening the scoring.
